Every clearing decision here has to account for Pine Island Bayou. Somewhere you want grass back, thinner, because too heavy a mat smothers what you are trying to establish. Around mature trees the same rule applies as with any clearing here: the risk is compaction and root damage inside the drip line rather than contact, so the machine route gets planned in advance.
