Land Clearing Services in Nome, TX

Nome is a small town with a lot of land around it, and the calls we get here are almost always the same shape: acreage that has been held a long time and left, now closed in to the point it cannot be walked. We clear and reclaim acreage across Nome and the surrounding western parts of Jefferson County. Free on-site estimate.

This is old oil country as much as farm country, and rural tracts here regularly carry old lease roads, pads, tank battery locations and pipeline right of way running across otherwise ordinary pasture. Clearing across an active corridor is a different job with different rules, and an abandoned wellhead is not something to find with a blade. That gets established on the walk rather than during the work. The reclaim itself is standard for this county. Ground that supported cattle a generation ago comes back as Chinese tallow, yaupon, privet and greenbrier, and around sixty inches of rain a year on this stretch of the Gulf Coast with a long growing season closes it in faster than owners who have been away expect. What concentrates the heavy material is water. Fence lines, ditches and any damp ground carry the worst of it, because that is where tallow does best. Harvey and Imelda both spread seed across this area and left more standing water for it to establish in. Pine Island Bayou drains the country north of here, and the clay through this area holds water rather than shedding it, so what gets opened up stays wet longer than it used to on a fair number of tracts.

We walk the whole tract, looking for the infrastructure as well as the vegetation, and we ask what the owner knows about the property's history because that is usually the fastest route to the answer. The method follows end use and it is worth being blunt about the difference. Pasture and hay ground needs the roots out. Cutting or mulching tallow and yaupon leaves the systems and they return within two or three seasons, so a reclaim priced as mulching is one you will pay for twice. Recreational and hunting ground is genuinely better served by mulching, which costs less, opens sight lines and leaves a mat that holds soil. We price the fence lines and drainage separately from the open ground, since the heavy material clusters there and averaging across a tract gets it wrong in both directions. Old lease roads get a decision rather than being cleared by default. They are frequently the best access on a property, already built up and drained, and worth keeping. Burning is genuinely available on rural ground here and on a large reclaim it is often the cheapest ending for the material. Jefferson County burn bans move through the year and TCEQ outdoor burning rules apply regardless, so we confirm the current position rather than planning around an old answer. Access is the usual rural constraint, though the old field roads sometimes solve it.

Why Choose TRP Land Clearing & Excavation in Nome?

We look for the oil field history before we start rather than finding it with a blade. On tracts around here that is local knowledge doing its job. We price the fence lines separately from the middle, because that is where the money actually is on a reclaim and averaging overcharges the open ground. We will tell you plainly that mulching does not hold pasture, even though it is the cheaper job. Free on-site estimate, owner walks the tract and runs the machine.

Land Clearing FAQ — Nome

How much does it cost to reclaim pasture out here?
Density drives it far more than acreage, and on tracts here the density is very uneven. Open ground that has gone to weeds and briars is comparatively light work. Fence lines and ditch banks where Chinese tallow has established are considerably heavier. Averaging across a tract produces a number that is wrong in both directions, which is why we price the lines separately from the middle and put both on the estimate so you can see what you are paying for.
How do I know if there is a pipeline on my tract?
Markers are the obvious sign but are unreliable on older or abandoned lines, so their absence proves nothing. Other indicators are unnaturally straight strips where vegetation differs, low ridges where a road was built up, and cleared lines that never grew back the same. County records and the operator are authoritative. Where there is doubt we get locates before equipment runs, and on tracts in this area doubt is the sensible default rather than the exception.
Will mulching keep my pasture open?
No, not in the way you want. Mulching removes the top and leaves the root systems, so Chinese tallow and yaupon come back within two or three seasons and you will be paying again for the same acres. For pasture going back to cattle or hay, the roots have to come out, which is grubbing and costs more. Mulching is right for recreational ground and sight lines you are content to maintain on a rotation, and we own the equipment for both.
