Vidor is nine miles from our yard, which makes it one of the closest places we work and one of the cheapest to mobilise to. We clear acreage north and around the town where the tracts get bigger, and building sites inside it. Free on-site estimate, written before anything starts, and the owner runs the machine.

Vidor sits low between the Neches bottom to the west and the flat country running east into Orange County, with Interstate 10 through the middle of it. That position is why the town has taken water so badly and so often. Harvey is the event that still defines property here. In 2017 this town was among the worst hit anywhere in the region, with water through a very large share of the housing stock, and Imelda came through two years later. Rita had already been through in 2005. The practical result on individual tracts is that a lot of ground here now drains differently than it did a decade ago, and the owner's memory of how a property behaves may be out of date. That matters directly to clearing, because taking the canopy and understory off a tract changes how fast water sheets across it. On ground that already holds water longer than it used to, clearing without thinking about where the water goes can leave a property worse than it was. North of town the tracts open up into real acreage, and that is where most of our clearing work here is: ground held for decades, grazed a generation ago, and left to close in with Chinese tallow, yaupon and privet.

The end use decides the method and we settle that before anything else. Pasture reclaim means the roots come out. Cutting or mulching tallow and yaupon leaves the root systems and they will be back within two or three seasons, so ground going back to cattle or hay gets grubbed or the money bought a delay. Building sites are a different job. The goal is a specific buildable footprint at the right elevation with the organics stripped out. Given the flood history here, elevation is not a footnote on a Vidor building site, it is the first number. Where a tract sits in a mapped flood zone, Orange County floodplain administration sets a required finished floor elevation, and clearing and site work get planned around that requirement rather than against it. Resale clearing is usually the lightest work that opens sight lines, since the next owner may want timber that was about to be pushed into a pile. On the low ground running west toward the Neches bottom, wetland is a genuine consideration rather than a formality. Tracts with a slough, a wet-weather drainage or bottom frontage can carry Section 404 jurisdiction, and clearing inside that without a delineation is how an owner ends up in a conversation with the Corps of Engineers Galveston District. We identify it on the walk and say plainly what we will not touch. Debris gets settled before the job. Mulched in place, burned where allowed, or hauled off. Orange County burn bans move through the year and TCEQ outdoor burning rules apply regardless, so we confirm the current position rather than planning around an old answer.

Why Choose TRP Land Clearing & Excavation in Vidor?

Nine miles from the yard means the mobilisation on a Vidor job is close to nothing, and that shows up in the number rather than being quietly kept. We walk the whole tract including the back corner, because on properties around here the part you cannot see from the drive is usually what sets the price, and after the flooding of recent years it is also where the drainage has changed. We tell you when the answer is no. Wetland in the tract, ground too wet to work without wrecking it, or a job that should be mulching rather than clearing, you hear it before you spend anything.

Land Clearing FAQ — Vidor

How much does land clearing cost per acre around Vidor?
Density sets the price far more than acreage does, so an honest number needs a look at the ground. Open pasture with scattered trees and a tract of closed-canopy tallow and yaupon are identical on paper and completely different jobs. What the debris has to do and how far equipment travels move it again. Being nine miles away, our mobilisation cost here is genuinely low, which is one of the few places we can say the quote is nearly all work.
Should I clear my tract before or after building up the pad?
Clearing first, almost always, because you cannot properly assess elevation or strip organics under a canopy, and because the cleared area usually needs to extend beyond the pad footprint anyway. What matters more here than the order is that both get planned together. Given how much of this area sits in a mapped flood zone, the required finished floor elevation should be known before clearing decides where the building envelope goes, since sometimes the best spot on a tract is not the obvious one.
Has flooding changed how tracts around here drain?
Frequently, yes, and it is worth taking seriously rather than assuming a property behaves the way it did ten years ago. Harvey and Imelda both moved enormous volumes of water through this area, silting ditches, crushing culverts and leaving low ground where the surface used to be consistent. We look at where water currently stands after a rain rather than at where it historically went, because on a fair number of tracts here those are no longer the same thing.
