Dirt, Sand, Topsoil & Gravel Delivery Services in Nederland, TX
TRP Land Clearing & Excavation delivers topsoil, sand, fill dirt and gravel in Nederland, TX, the built-out Mid-County town about eleven miles south of Beaumont, TX, and grades it on house lots where a yard may have only a few inches of fall to work with. Topsoil and thin sand dressings even out a lawn without burying the grass, compacted clay fill brings up deeper low ground, and crushed, graded base goes under a gravel parking strip. Every load is shaped so water runs to the street or the ditch, away from the slab and never toward a neighbor. Buried lines are marked before any digging, and estimates are free and given on site by the owner.
Nederland yards are flatter than they look from the porch. A typical lot might fall a few inches from the back fence to the street, and when a settled patch, an old flower bed or the hump where a tree came out interrupts that fall, water stops and stays. We deliver topsoil, sand, fill dirt and gravel across Nederland and the rest of Mid-County, and we grade what we bring so it restores the fall instead of fighting it. Leftover dirt, sod and broken concrete leave by truck, since burning is not an option inside town.
This is a settled town with very little raw ground left in it, so material work happens at house-lot scale: a lawn that holds water, a side yard that never drained, a parking strip beside the drive, a lot where an old house has come down. Every one of those sits on top of water, sewer, gas, electric and telecom lines, and in the older streets the services are not always where the records put them. The clay explains most of what goes wrong. Gulf Coast clay through Mid-County is dense and highly plastic. It swells when it is wet, shrinks when it dries, and lets almost no water soak through, so a dip only an inch or two deep can hold water for days. With so little natural fall, grade on these lots has to be built on purpose, and a great many were never built to drain at all. Where the water goes after it leaves the yard matters just as much. Runoff here moves through roadside ditches and the local system toward Taylor Bayou, and a lot of that system took a beating in Harvey in 2017 and Imelda in 2019, with Rita and Ike before them. Front ditches silted, culverts lost capacity, and many were never fully put right. When the receiving ditch is full during a storm, nothing done inside a fence line will drain, and that is worth knowing before anyone spends money on dirt. New construction raises its own question. Where a parcel falls in a mapped flood zone, Jefferson County floodplain administration sets a required finished floor elevation, and on ground this flat even a modest requirement means bringing in real volume. Older parcels between here and Port Arthur can also carry fill of unknown origin or the footings of a structure removed long ago, and those have to come out before anything new is built on top.
The first visit is about fall, not material. We shoot grades from the back of the lot to the street and find exactly where the fall breaks, because the answer to a wet Nederland yard is one of three different jobs, and only two of them involve buying dirt. The cheapest case is a high spot holding water behind it. A ridge left by an old bed border, a sidewalk edge or a tree that came out can dam a whole backyard. Cutting it down and moving that soil into the low ground often fixes the problem with little or nothing imported, and topsoil only finishes the surface. The second case is a broad area sitting below the ground around it. A shallow dip with healthy grass takes a sand dressing or a sand and topsoil mix spread thin enough for the blades to grow through, built up in more than one pass if needed. Anything deeper than grass can survive being buried under gets the sod stripped, clay fill placed and compacted, and topsoil laid back over a roughened surface so it knits instead of sliding off the clay. The third case is water with nowhere to go. If the front ditch has silted or the culvert under the drive is half full, the yard is a symptom and the ditch is the job. Silt dug out of a ditch is soft and wet, so it is either dried and spread thin in a low corner that carries no load or hauled away. Around the house and the drive, the same rules hold whatever the case. Finished grade stays below the slab edge and the brick ledge and falls away from the walls, and topsoil never gets heaped over a weep hole. A gravel parking strip gets the grass stripped, the clay compacted, a separation layer, and crushed, graded base compacted in lifts. Clean stone is for drains, not for parking on. Before any trench or cut, Texas811 marks the lines.
Why Choose TRP Land Clearing & Excavation in Nederland?
We look for the cheapest fix that works, and on a flat Nederland lot that is often moving dirt you already have rather than buying more. When the problem is the ditch out front, we say so before quoting topsoil. The same crew delivers, spreads and grades, so material reaches the backyard instead of stopping on the drive. The owner measures the gate, checks where a truck can stand clear of the meter, the cleanout and the service line, and gives the estimate free, on site.
