Dirt, Sand, Topsoil & Gravel Delivery Services in Vidor, TX

TRP Land Clearing & Excavation delivers fill dirt, topsoil, sand and gravel in Vidor, TX, about nine miles east of Beaumont, TX on Interstate 10, and spreads it rather than leaving a pile. Much of the need here traces back to Rita, Harvey and Imelda: lawns killed by standing water that need topsoil, low yards that need fill, and gravel drives that washed out and need rebuilding on a graded base that locks up. Vidor drainage is shared between neighbors, so before fill raises a yard, the path the water takes next is checked, and runoff is never sent onto a neighbor's property. Estimates are free and given on site by the owner.

After the water goes down, a yard in Vidor rarely looks the way it did before. The grass in the low corner is dead, the gravel from the drive is in the ditch, and there is a hollow by the fence that holds water for a week after every rain. Those are material problems as much as drainage problems, and they are what this delivery service is for. We bring fill dirt, topsoil, sand and gravel to Vidor and the Orange County country around it, spread and grade it, and haul off what has to go.

Vidor sits low in the stretch of Orange County between the Neches and the Sabine, and water crossing it on the way to the Gulf moves through ditches and bayous that fill fast and empty slowly. Rita in 2005, Harvey in 2017 and Imelda in 2019 each put water across yards here, and each one left something behind. Silt settled in ditches and low lawns. Standing water sat long enough to kill grass to the roots. Drives built on thin rock lost the rock and kept the ruts. The clay underneath is the reason it lingers. Gulf Coast clay this flat and this wet does not absorb water, it holds it at the surface, so a yard that was saturated for a week stays soft long after the street is dry. That has two consequences for a delivery. A loaded truck across a soft Vidor yard sinks rather than ruts, so where the truck can stand is decided at the estimate. And a hollow that holds water is often holding it because the ditch beyond it is silted, not because the yard is too low. Drainage in this town is shared. One property's runoff is the next one's problem, and raising a yard with fill moves water somewhere, usually toward whoever is now lowest. On a street where every lot has had water, that is not a small thing to get wrong. Out past town, the acreage runs back off the farm-to-market roads down long private drives that cross a ditch on a culvert at the front, and those drives and crossings are where washed gravel and crushed pipe tend to show up.

Three repairs cover most of what a Vidor yard needs after water, and each wants a different material. A dead lawn wants topsoil, not fill. Where standing water killed the grass, the surface is usually a silty crust over packed clay. That crust gets broken up, the low spots are brought even, and topsoil goes on in a layer thin enough to settle evenly and deep enough to root in. Where a dip is only an inch or two, a sand dressing or a sand and topsoil mix can level it while the surviving grass grows back through. Clay fill dumped on a dead lawn grows nothing and holds water at the top. A low yard wants a decision before it wants dirt. If water has a way out and the ground has simply settled or scoured, fill is the answer: clay brought in, spread in thin layers and compacted, finished with topsoil and graded so it falls away from the house and toward the ditch, not toward the property line. If water has no way out, filling only raises the puddle and hands it to the neighbor, and the real fix is a drain path or a cleaned ditch. We look before we sell you dirt. A washed drive wants a base, not more loose rock. Gravel spread straight onto Vidor clay gets pushed into the mud by the first wet-weather traffic, which is why so many drives here keep needing more. The lasting version strips the soft material, compacts the clay, lays a separation layer and builds the drive up in compacted lifts of crushed, graded base with a crown so it sheds water. Where a crossing washed, the culvert under it is checked for size and condition before rock goes back over it. Spoil from all of this, the silt cleaned out of a ditch or the soft material stripped from a drive, can often be reused on the same property. What cannot gets hauled off.

Why Choose TRP Land Clearing & Excavation in Vidor?

Nine miles down Interstate 10 from our base, the truck that brings the material and the machines that spread it are on the same job, so nothing is left in a pile waiting for somebody else. We will tell you plainly when fill is not the answer. On shared, slow drainage like Vidor's, a raised yard that floods the house next door is a new problem, not a repair. The estimate is free, the owner gives it on site, and it names the material and the reason for it.

Dirt, Sand, Topsoil & Gravel Delivery FAQ — Vidor

Standing water killed my lawn in Vidor. Do I need topsoil or sand?
Usually topsoil, sometimes with sand. Topsoil is what grass roots in, so a dead area gets its crust broken up and a fresh layer of topsoil spread across it. If the problem is a shallow dip with living grass at the edges, a sand and topsoil mix spread thin levels it without smothering what survived. Straight sand on Vidor clay drains no better than the clay under it, and it is no substitute for a soil that grows grass.
Can I fill my low yard in Vidor without flooding my neighbor?
Yes, if the grade is planned rather than piled. The fill has to fall toward a ditch or another legitimate outfall, not toward the property line, and it should not turn your yard into a dam that holds water on the lot behind you. We shoot the existing grade on your side and look at where the neighbors' water goes now before quoting. If the only way to dry your yard is to send water onto someone else's property, we will say so and look for another route.
What should go back on a gravel drive that washed out near Vidor?
Not just more of the same rock. A drive that washed usually had loose stone sitting on clay with no real base, so the rebuild starts by stripping the soft material and compacting what is underneath. Then a separation layer, then crushed, graded base in compacted lifts with a crown. If a culvert at the road washed or crushed, it gets checked before anything goes back over it. Tell us what drives on it and we will tell you what to use.
Will a loaded dump truck make it down my private drive outside Vidor?
That gets checked at the estimate rather than discovered on delivery day. The weak points are the culvert where the drive crosses the roadside ditch, any soft section of the drive itself, and the turnaround at the end. If the drive will not carry loaded trucks, we stage the material near the road and carry it the rest of the way with the dozer, firm up the crossing first, or wait for drier ground.
